How to update your email password
This guide will show you how to update your email password for customers using LCN Web hosting, WordPress hosting, Email hosting or LiteMail.
Creating a strong password is very important. This guide will help you pick a password that’s both secure and easy to remember.
Let’s get started…
Update your email password from your LCN Account
- Log in to your LCN account and head to your Control Panel.
- Click on the domain you wish to perform a password reset for.
- Click Email Settings, followed by Users and Rules.
- Chose the mailbox you wish to update, and you will now be able to view and update your login settings.
- To update your password, enter a new password in the Password box.
- Repeat your password in the Confirm password box.
Please Note: To make sure your chosen password is secure you will need to make sure that it is at least 8 characters long, it must also include at least 3 of the following: Lower case letter, upper case letter, number, special character. For a guide on making a secure password click here.
- After you are happy with your changed click Save at the bottom.
Please Note: Changing your password for your mailbox will update the passwords for all email addresses using this mailbox.
That’s it! You have now updated you mailbox password from your LCN account.
Please Note: If you have provided FTP access to a user the FTP password used for FTP access will also be changed.
Changing your SMTP password
If you have an authenticated SMTP for your mailbox this can be reset separately.
Please Note: Your authenticated SMTP will use your mailbox password as default and will unlikely need changing.
To do this you will…
- Log in to your LCN account and head to your Control Panel.
- Click on the domain you wish to perform a password reset for.
- Click Email Settings, followed by Authenticated SMTP.
- Enter a New password in the first box.
- Re-enter your password in the Confirm Password box.
Please Note: To make sure your chosen password is secure you will need to make sure that it is at least 8 characters long, it must also include at least 3 of the following: Lower case letter, upper case letter, number, special character. For a guide on making a secure password click here.
That’s it! You have now updated your SMTP.
Change your password in Webmail
- Log in to your webmail.
- Click Settings.
- Click Password under the Settings tab.
- In the Current Password field, enter your current mailbox password.
- In the New Password field, enter your new password.
Please Note: To make sure your chosen password is secure you will need to make sure that it is at least 8 characters long, it must also include at least 3 of the following: Lower case letter, upper case letter, number, special character. For a guide on making a secure password click here.
- Enter the same password again in the Confirm New Password field.
- Click SAVE.
Please Note: Changing your password for your mailbox will update the passwords for all email addresses using this mailbox.
That’s it! You’ve now successfully updated your mailbox password from Webmail.
