How to create an email address
This guide will explain how to create a mailbox and an email address for domains hosted on LCN web hosting, WordPress hosting, Email hosting packages or using LiteMail.
If you don’t have a hosting plan in place for your domain you will first need to add one to your domain or activate LiteMail.

How to create a Mailbox and first email address
Before you can create an email address you will first need to create a Mailbox. You will then create an email addresses which will use the mailbox for sending and receiving email.
To create a mailbox and your first email you will need to…
- Log in to your LCN account and navigate to your control panel.
- Click on the domain you wish to create a mailbox for.
Please Note: If you do not have an Email Hosting you will be advised to add one before you can create your mailbox.
- Click Email Settings located under Email followed by Users and Email Rules.
- Click Add User/mailbox
- Enter the Username for your mailbox. This will be your admin user.
- Enter your full name. This is optional however it can be useful to remind you who accesses this mailbox.
- Create your Password then Confirm password.
Please Note: To make sure your chosen password is secure you will need to make sure that it is at least 8 characters long, it must also include at least 3 of the following: Lower case letter, upper case letter, number, special character. For a guide on making a secure password click here.
- Enter your first Email alias. This will create an email address for your mailbox, you just need to add the part that will be before the @ symbol.
That’s it! You have now created your mailbox and first email addresses!

Creating additional email addresses
Each mailbox can have multiple email aliases, this will allow you to have emails to multiple addresses come to the same mailbox. However, it is best to have a separate mailbox for different users to help ensure emails sent and received do not get mixed up.
To create additional emails for a mailbox you will need to…
- Log in to your LCN account and navigate to your control panel.
- Next click on the domain you wish to create an email for.
- Now click Email Settings located under Email followed by Users and Email Rules.
- Click Add email address
- Enter the address, the part before the @ symbol, in the first box labelled Email address.
- Choose if you would like this email to:
- Deliver: Deliver emails to the mailbox for this email address.
- Reject: Reject emails sent to this email address and the sender will be made aware.
- Blackhole: Emails sent to this email will be accepted but immediately deleted.
- Choose the Mailbox that this email will be connected to and which will be where received emails will be placed.
- If you would also like this email to forward to another address such as a Gmail or Microsoft address you can enter that into the box for Forwarding address. If you choose forwarding address you will also want to choose if you would like to Enable SRS for forwarding.
That’s it! You have now added an email address to an existing mailbox.
Removing or editing an email address
If you no longer require an email address or would like to make a change to an address you can achieve this with the following steps:
- Log in to your LCN account and navigate to your control panel.
- Next click on the domain you wish to remove an email from.
- Then click Email Settings located under Email followed by Users and Email Rules.
- Followed by clicking the alias you would like to remove or make changes to.
- You will now be presented with the same settings as when the email was created allowing to change them. If you would like to delete the email you can simply click Delete and confirm you would like to delete the email.
Please Note: Removing an email address will not delete the contents of the mailbox itself.
That’s it! You’ve now removed or changed your email address.
