How to change your nameservers

This guide will show LCN.com customers how to change their Nameservers on their domains.

Nameservers form the backbone of the Domain Name System (DNS) as they create the link between a domain name and its email and website services.

Sometimes you may need to update these, especially if you’re moving to a new hosting provider.

Please Note: If you are using any of our Web hosting, WordPress hosting, Email hosting or forwarding services, we wouldn’t recommend changing your nameservers as these services will no longer work unless you pre-propagate your new nameservers.

Before you start, you’ll need to know the names of your new nameservers, you’ll typically get these from your web hosting provider.

Let’s get started…

  1. Log in to your LCN account
  1. From your listed services click on the domain you would like to update.
  1. Click Change Nameservers
  1. In the boxes provided enter your new nameservers.

Please Note: Nameserver addresses typically start with ns0. or ns1.

  1. Click Update and allow up to 24 hours for the changes to take effect, however, this can be longer. For more information on DNS and Nameserver propagation see our guide here.

That’s it! You’ve changed your domain’s nameservers.
