How to Set Up a “Site Under Construction”

Info: This article applies to Website Builder purchases made after 14th January 2025. For further assistance, please contact our support team.

Getting Started

To get started, you first need to log into the web builder through your Online Control Panel. Unsure how to do so? Follow our guide HERE

Before your site is fully ready for visitors, there are several ways to prevent them from accessing unfinished content:

  1. Use the Page Lock Function (Premium Feature Only): By enabling this feature, visitors will be directed to a “User Login” page, which you can customize to inform users that the pages are under construction. Locking the project’s start page will also lock all other pages on the site.
  1. Hide Pages in the Web Menu: This option keeps individual pages from being visible in the menu, preventing anyone from accessing their content. While the site can still be reached via a direct link, it won’t be shown in the menu for site visitors.
  1. Delay Publishing Changes: Choose to publish changes later and in bulk once all content is ready. If a new page is published prematurely, it’s not a significant issue, as search engines typically take time to index new content, meaning the site won’t be easily found on Google right away.

TIP: Be sure to indicate that the website is under construction (for example, on the front page). Include information on when it will be available again and what visitors can look forward to.
