How to add your LCN Email to Hotmail/Outlook.com

This guide will show you how to set up your email account on Hotmail/Outlook.com. For customers using LCN Web hosting, WordPress hosting, Email hosting or LiteMail with an Authenticated SMTP. 

Before you get started, you’ll need to have your email address and password handy. If you can’t remember these details, you can check and reset them from your LCN account. 

You will also need to ensure you have Authenticated SMTP enabled. You can find out how to do this here. 

Automatic IMAP Setup for Outlook.com 

1. Log in to your Outlook.com/Hotmail account. 

2. Next select the cog icon towards the top-right of the page. 

3. Then select View all Outlook settings located at the bottom right-hand corner. 

4. Select Sync email from the Email section. 

5. Choose Other email accounts. 

6. You’ll then be prompted to enter the following settings:  

• Display Name: This name will be displayed on outgoing messages you send from the account. 
• Email Address: Enter the full email address that you want to connect. 
• Password: Enter the password for the email address here.  

7. Select OK to complete the process to connect your account. 

Manual Setup 

1. Log in to your Outlook.com/Hotmail account. 

2. Next select the cog icon towards the top-right of the page. 

3. Select View all Outlook settings located at the bottom. 

4. Then select Sync email from the Email section. 

5. Choose Other email accounts. 

6. You’ll then be prompted to enter the following settings:  

• Display Name: This name will be displayed on outgoing messages you send from the account. 
• Email Address: Enter the full email address that you want to connect. 
• Password: Enter the password for the email address here.  

6. Tick the option Manually configure account settings, then select OK 

7. Enter your Username. Your username is your email address. 

8. Select the type of connection that you want to use for your account:  

• IMAP/SMTP: The folders for your mailbox will be synced with the LCN mail server and will allow you to send an email via Authenticated SMTP.
• POP/SMTP: Messages will be downloaded from the LCN server and stored in your Outlook.com mailbox. Sent messages and other folders will not be synced with the LCN mail server and will allow you to send an email via Authenticated SMTP. 
• SMTP only: Supports outgoing mail only via Authenticated SMTP  

9. Enter the following settings to configure the account:  

• Username: Enter your full email address 
• Password: Enter your mailbox password 
• Incoming IMAP/POP server: mail.lcn.com 
• Incoming server port: Enter 993 for IMAP connections, 995 for POP connections 
• Authentication: Basic 
• Encryption: SSL 
• Outgoing SMTP server: mail.lcn.com 
• Outgoing server port: 465, 587, 25 or 26  

5. Select OK to complete the process to connect your account. 

That’s it, your connected account should now be configured in Outlook.com/Hotmail to send and/or receive email.
